Loveitts staff jump in the saddle for Zoes Place

Loveitts estate agents swapped their suits for lycra when they took to the saddle at West Orchards Shopping Centre to help raise much needed funds for the Midlands’ only dedicated baby hospice.

Coinciding with the first night of late night shopping the team headed by Associate Director Paul Barnes along with Mark Treadwell, Laura Clark and Gemma Gleeson embarked on a gruelling 9 hour cycling marathon commencing at mid-day and completing their task at 9 p.m.

Staff from Zoe’s Place along with their famous mascot bear were also in attendance to offer moral support.

Zoe’s Place has been Loveitts nominated charity for the past 12 months and this will be the third major fundraising event in which the local estate agency firm has been involved including a highly successful golf day and support at the Mardi Gras Ball.

And in addition to what Loveitts hope will be lots of money for Zoe’s to bring their total sum raised to nearer £10,000 for 2016, both Zoe’s and the team will be enlisting support for the charity’s Giant Cause Cycle Challenge setting off from Cork, Ireland which takes place from the 16th – 20th  September 2017.

Paul Barnes commented:  “Zoe’s Place is a fantastic charity and we are delighted to be able to support in this way.  We came up with the idea of the static bike ride event as it was something we could do which would attract lots of local interest whilst being a bit of fun at the same time. We have been training hard and hope to raise lots of money on the day in order to bring a smile to the faces of the children and staff at Zoe’s Place.”

Zoe’s Place provides 24-hour palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and children up to the age of five. The facilities include hydrotherapy, music and multi-sensory environments, a self-contained parents’ suite, a starlight room in which parents stay during difficult times, and five child-friendly ‘cot’ rooms.

The last 12 months have been an exciting one for Zoe’s Place with the launch of the Business Group, a hugely successful ball and the commitment of UB40 star Brian Travers who has agreed to support the charity and has also fronted a new video. But it doesn’t stop there.... Every year the hospice has to raise £1.3 million to ensure that it is able continue to provide its vital service to the families it serves throughout the region and open its doors 24/7 Last year the hospice smashed through an ambitious £1million target to expand its services round the clock.
